Tetris is a game that appears as one of the 42 games ported to the Mega Drive Mini (known in North America as the Sega Genesis Mini). It is a port of Sega's 1988 arcade version created by M2.
Gameplay

This game is not based on the rare Mega Drive game, but is a port of the arcade version. As a result, the gameplay is exactly the same as the arcade game.
Like the arcade release, it does not have wall kicks. To increase the level, the player must either clear 4 lines in any combination of line clears or place a tetromino after the "level timer" reaches a certain value.
Differences between the arcade and Mega Drive Mini release
- Upon starting the game, the Sega logo from many Mega Drive games appears first before the title screen.
- The copyright notice has been updated to say "TETRIS ® & © 1985~2019 AND TETRIS TRADE DRESS ARE OWNED BY TETRIS HOLDING. ©SEGA"
- The score and line counters now have one digit added, raising the maximum score and lines to 9,999,999 and 9,999, respectively. This was previously added as a toggleable feature in Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol.28 Tetris Collection.
- When pressing Start on the title screen, the player can choose to play the game or change game options by selecting 1P Mode/2P Mode and Option respectively.
- An option screen is added, where the player can change the difficulty setting, add/change/remove key binds to the controller, and make use of the BGM and SE test features. As an addition, the player can now rotate pieces clockwise by changing any of the button functions to Rotate Right, whereas the original arcade version only allowed them to rotate pieces counterclockwise. The player can also set Hard Drop as a button function.
- The level up sound now plays when the player advances a level, regardless of the level they are on.
