Should merge the two TGM 4 pages

Although the soon-to-be-released game has different subtitle, and will be a PC release via Steam instead of the arcade, it's obvious that they are the same game by even a cursory glance of the graphics and modes present. We don't need two articles potentially confusing unfamiliar readers. A single article covering the history of the development of the game and its long delayed release is all that's needed. I agree! The MoR page didn't have much content at first, but much of the gameplay info has been filled out. And it is actually true that the modes have changed a lot, and that is why I am now hesitant to merged them right away.
I don't want to make the TGM4 page gigantic, because it will only get bigger as people figure out the modes and document them. I Would like to make the content in the MoR page more concise, and merge it in. But to avoid doing work twice, or losing information I think it's worth waiting. If you have other opinions, let me know :) --simonlc (talk) 19:30, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
I can see waiting for the long-awaited release to confirm much of what is actually in the final game and what its gameplay is like, but after that release I think it would be best to condense the MOR stuff into the development section of the actual TGM4 game. The field tests were not a completed game, after all, so while covering things that changed in the development, it's really all part of the (very long) development of the final game, not be presented as an entirely separate game. Because it's not. Arika didn't scrap the previous work and start development over. Oknazevad (talk) 15:39, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

Normal mode notes

Several things in the normal mode section is either definitely wrong or uncertain. I've copied the notes over here and replaced the section only that which we have verified for certain and that which is clearly noted to be uncertain. Please keep notes in this thread.

The first a seems to be awarded by surviving levels 0-200 while getting at least six Tetrises. Other line clears, back-to-back, time, and the level 99-100 stop all do not seem to matter for this requirement, going from these experiments:

  • If the player clears eleven Tetrises until level 199 and then tops out, the rank is Zero of One.
  • If the player clears Tetrises until level 200 but never soft drops or hard drops (taking over 11 minutes), the rank is One of One.
  • If the player clears six Tetrises in levels 0-100 and all singles in levels 101-200, the rank is One of One.
  • If the player clears all singles in levels 0-100 and six Tetrises in levels 101-200, the rank is One of One.
  • If the player clears two Tetrises in levels 0-100 and four Tetrises in levels 101-200, the rank is One of One.
  • If the player clears five back-to-back Tetrises and the rest triples in levels 0-200, the rank is Zero of One.
  • If the player clears six Tetrises in levels 0-200, with none of them being back-to-back, the rank is One of One.

a requirements Two through Five seem to require surviving to 300/400/500/600 while getting at least six Tetrises in each section. It is currently believed that attaining at least 14 Tetrises in the credit roll will increase a. It is currently believed that attaining 6 Tetrises in 0-200, and 6 Tetrises each in each subsequent section, and then 14 Tetrises in the credit roll, will bestow Ten of Ten upon the player, but it is also believed that these aren't the precise requirements.

Other experiments:

  • If two players both beat the credits, it is possible for the slower player to rank higher than the faster player.
  • The player can get rank Two of Two without ever soft or hard dropping.
  • It is possible to clear levels 0-999 with all Tetrises and only get rank Eight of Ten.

Other research from #TGM4:
* Four tetrises before 100, then topping out after 200 but before 222 CAN give 1/1, but can also give 0/1, so the requirement cannot possible just be tetris count.
* An entire game of nothing but O blocks (so a lot of bravos but no tetrises) gives 0/10, so likely tetrises ARE a factor.
* We have tested and confirmed that 10/9 is possible using the method described on the main page, which proves that the only thing the roll is good for is the last section to make it X of 10.
* Playing a perfect game slow gives 9/10, playing it fast gives 10/10.
* Playing a game with only singles gives 0/10, playing it fast gives 1/10.
