I think the start page is too compact. We're sacrificing function over form. Rather than putting arbitrary articles on the main page, can't we make it more standard by having more portals? Most of the articles on the wiki are so obscured at the moment and are hardly useful if one doesn't look them up. The main page seriously needs a makeover to make everything easier to access.
