Some Tetris games, especially those which conform to the Tetris Guideline feature a function called the "Ghost piece" or simply "ghost". This is a reprisentation of the current tetramino which appears at the bottom of the well, where the piece would fall were the hard drop function to be used. This function reduces the number of misdrops a player makes.
