GTET is a fan game designed to simulate Tetris: The Grand Master for Windows 98. It was created by the Japanese TGM player GOO shortly after the game's release, and is believed to be the earliest fan game of the TGM series.
History
GOO, a prominent member of the early Tetris: The Grand Master community, began developing GTET some time between late 1998 and January 1999 in order for TGM players to be able to practice and play without needing access to an arcade cabinet. The game simulates the mechanics of Tetris: The Grand Master based on the knowledge the community had of the game at the time, meaning it has some minor differences. The game also adds some features not in TGM, such as a detailed statistics display.
Some time after the game's release, either Arika or The Tetris Company contacted GOO asking them to end distribution of the game. The game was removed from GOO's site on 18 August 2000, and the site was renamed to "TGM Intelligence Agency" (TGM 情報局).
