<Mr N.> People were initially calling the between-piece time "it" or "that time between pieces", often using the word "are"
<Mr N.> Then someone wrote it in transliterated alphabet form, and since it looked cooler and sorta like an acronym, the name stuck as "ARE" (ay arr ee).
