Tetris Evolution was a Tetris game developed for the Xbox 360 and released in 2007.

Gameplay

Tetris Evolution features standard Guideline rules of gameplay. Much like Tetris Zone, T-Spin Triples are not recognized in-game. Customization options for playfield skins, player icons, backgrounds, etc. are also available.

Modes

Marathon

Default game mode. Level system can be toggled between Fixed-Goal or Variable-Goal; initial speed level, Garbage amount and spawn frequency, and lock delay reset can be configured prior to starting the mode.

Ultra

Time trial mode. 1-, 3-, and 5-minute sub-modes are available.

Race

Sprint mode. The goal amount can be selected between 10, 25, or 40 lines.

Score

A variant of Race; the player must reach a set amount of points (5000 / 10000 / 25000) in the fastest time possible.

Cascade

First seen in Tetris Worlds, the player must clear lines using recursive gravity; all 15 levels (on variable-goal) must be cleared in order to complete the mode.

Hotline

First seen in Tetris Worlds, the player must clear lines within 6 colored rows in the playfield. Only lines cleared in the marked rows count towards the goal. Unlike Worlds, this mode uses standard tetrominoes instead of multiminoes.

Go Low

Marathon mode, but with a different scoring system: the player must clear lines as low as possible on the playfield to earn a higher score amount.

Eraser

A set of white rows are highlighted on the playfield; the player must remove the white rows by clearing lines in them within the fastest time possible.

Multiplayer

Tetris Evolution features options for local or online multiplayer. In Local, the host can choose between Versus, Hotseat, or Independent formats for a multiplayer game. For Versus, only Marathon includes the standard garbage attack system used in Guideline-based multiplayer games. In Online, the player can join a Ranked, Custom, or Quick match in the XBOX Live menu.
