- ARE [07:36] <colour_thief> [14:01] <Needle_> The Japanese players sometimes call the between-piece time "ARE"
[07:36] <colour_thief> [14:02] <Needle_> The word pops up sometime in 2ch so might help on the comprehension [07:36] <colour_thief> [14:02] <colour_thief> does that stand for anything? [07:36] <colour_thief> [14:02] <Needle_> Well, it's a stupid story really [07:36] <colour_thief> [14:03] <Needle_> The word "are" (not "arr", but pronounced "a ray" quickly) means "it" or "that" in Japanese [07:36] <colour_thief> [14:03] <Needle_> People were initially calling the between-piece time "it" or "that time between pieces", often using the word "are" [07:37] <colour_thief> [14:04] <Needle_> Then someone wrote it in transliterated alphabet form, and since it looked cooler and sorta like an acronym, the name stuck as "ARE" (ay arr ee). [07:37] <colour_thief> [14:04] <Needle_> So it doesn't really stand for anything :D
