Tetris Online (Japan) is an official online Tetris game for Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista.

Gameplay

  • No ARE, IRS, IHS is present.
  • T-Spin recognition is nearly 3-corner T, but T-Spin with Wall kick displays as "T-Spin Mini". In single player mode, there is no difference to Tetris DS. But in VS modes, "T-Spin Mini" sends fewer garbage than T-Spin (no kick).
  • It uses the Random Generator for piece distribution.

Garbage Sends

Multiple Line Clears

Lines Cleared Lines Sent
1 0
2 1
3 2
4 4

T-Spins

  • T-Spins send double the amount of lines cleared.
  • T-Spin Minis only send 1 line.

Back-To-Back

  • A line clear is considered Back-To-Back (B2B/BtB) if it is a T-spin or a Tetris and if the last line clear was also a T-spin or a Tetris.
  • A Back-To-Back bonus sends 1 extra line to the opponent.

REN

  • REN is the Japanese term for combo.
  • REN is increased by clearing consecutive lines, each clear increases the counter by 1.
  • The first line clear can be thought of as REN 0, REN # is only displayed starting from REN 1.
REN # Lines Sent Total Sent
0 0 0
1 0 0
2 1 1
3 1 2
4 2 4
5 2 6
6 3 9
7 3 12
8 4 16
9 4 20
10 4 24

Note: Above table only includes lines sent from REN.

Garbage Distribution

In a Free-For-All match, a target cursor that randomly switches between players determines to whom your lines are sent. Unlike other Tetris Guideline games, the change of garbage holes is not random. Each attack always sends garbage with the holes in the same column. However, the next attack will have a 100% chance of change in the column of the garbage hole. Note: Each line send from REN counts as a separate attack.

Game Modes

Single Player

Single player is only available to Premium users. It consists of the modes below:

  • Time Attack: Well known 40-lines time attack mode.
  • Challenge: 10-minutes score attack mode. Unlike Tetris Zone, game ends immediately if the level timer runs out.
  • Marathon: Standard Tetris mode. Game ends in level 15. Required points to increase a level is much shorter than other guideline compatible games.

Multi Player

The multiplayer room is the place to battle against other players and/or bots. Each room may be filled with up to 6 players (including bots). Matches can either be Free-For-All or Teams (2v2, 2v2v2 or 3v3) and may be played with or without maps. After topping out or before a game begins, a player may choose to practice while waiting. The practice session continues until the current match ends or the match starts. The gravity becomes 20G in level 18. TP earned after every match is calculated as follows: TP = (players placed below you + 1) [ x5 (if premium)] + (# of KOs) The following rooms are available:

  • Specials
  • Beginner (Premium only)
  • Intermediate
  • Expert (20g)
  • 1v1

Training is only available to Premium users. Training mode involves battling against the AI in a 1v1 match. There are 24 levels consisting of 3 stages each:
