::/bin /sh is the location on *nix machines of the command line interface. Script files often have a reference to it on the first line ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shebang_%28Unix%29 see this for a better explaination]). My point is that if you try to include it in a forum or wiki post, then things go tits-up... --[[User:Lardarse|Lardarse]] 00:01, 3 November 2007 (EDT)

Spam

There are more spams, reverts, and blocks than legit edits nowadays. But blocking IPs does nothing because these spam posts are coming from a different IP address each time. This leads me to believe that they are open proxies running on compromised PCs.

Have you considered installing Tim Starling's SpamBlacklist extension, or Brion VIBBER's ConfirmEdit extension? --Tepples 14:11, 28 April 2007 (EDT)

I was so going to do this today, but wow, wouldn't you know wikimedia.org's server would go down on my day off? Will try again next time. Nicholas 11:04, 25 June 2007 (EDT)
Captcha introduced. We'll see how it goes. Nicholas 09:39, 2 July 2007 (EDT)

Forum issue

When trying to post to the forums, I get this error:

You don't have permission to access /forum/posting.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Also affects previewing posts. Viewing the forum still works. --Lardarse 05:14, 30 October 2007 (EDT)

No probs here with the forums (as of 7:00am).

--¥Weeds¥ 07:21, 30 October 2007 (EDT)

I isolated the issue. Try posting /bin /sh (as one word, not 2) in the forums or the wiki. The error should be easily repeatable. --Lardarse 16:16, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
