Nintendo is a Japanese video game company based in Kyoto, Japan.
The company played a key part in the licensing of Tetris in the United States, having manufactured the Game Boy and Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicom which hosted some of the most successful versions of Tetris in the United States.
In 1988, the company was also involved in a legal battle with Atari regarding the console rights to Tetris (Atari of whom had already produced their own version for the NES).
Former Nintendo of America president Minoru Arakawa would eventually form Tetris Online Japan, Inc. with Henk Rogers.
