A Perfect Clear, also called All Clear or Bravo by different games, is performed when a player locks a line clearing piece resulting in a completely empty playfield.
In some games, a perfect clear awards the player with a score bonus, or in multiplayer sends garbage lines.
Setups
Perfect clears in older Tetris games are quite rare due to the nature in which pieces are generated.
With the introduction of the 7-bag system, many modern games allow the player to perform perfect clears with certain setups that maximize the chance of success.
Perfect Clear Opener
The most popular way is with the Perfect Clear Opener, or PCO for short. Most starting sequences can build this formation. This provides a 61.19% chance to achieve a perfect clear. It is made by making a 4x4 box with IJLO, and a stack of TSZ.
In certain sequences, holding the I piece is possible, giving a higher chance of 84.64% to get a perfect clear.
Grace System
This opener creates a 6x4 rectangle, providing an 88.57% chance to get a perfect clear if the T piece is held.
A similar shape to the Perfect Clear Opener can also be made.
Other setups
Other setups, such as the examples below, can also result in 4-line or 6-line perfect clears.
